Bowie Knife Case Hardened: blue gem pattern guide

Bowie Knife | Case Hardened

The Bowie's blade is so large that almost no seed can flood it with blue: #182 is the only tier 1 and #398 the only tier 2 - a two-seed aristocracy. Top examples in Factory New have been reported in the $5,000-$10,000+ range.

HOW THE PATTERN WORKS
Case Hardened is one big mottled texture of blue, purple and gold patina; the pattern index (0-1000) rolled when the item drops picks which slice of it lands on the model. Blue occupies the smallest share of that texture, so a seed that lands heavy blue on the side you actually see - the playside - is the rare one. The blue never fades with wear: float adds scratches and darkens the golds, but a blue gem stays blue even Battle-Scarred.

WHAT COUNTS ON THIS ITEM
Playside coverage counts, and the guides note no full-blue backside twins exist for the Bowie - the texture simply runs out of blue at this size.
